Is this a good idea to get a second bachelor's degree in electrical engineering after earning a JD? (Patent law)?
I I graduated 2 years ago from a top 20 law schools and went to a good undergraduate (BA in Political Science.) I'm 27 and have very little debt. I always liked math and had an interest in science, but has never worked on it when I was younger. I practice in a firm 1.5 years to litigation, but I'm looking more professional. I plan seriously to return to full time for a BS in Electrical Engineering so I can practice before the PTO. I was curious if return for an engineering degree after law school is frowned upon by employers in the area of patents? Other comments or advice on my situation would be very helpful too. Thank you.
This is probably towards the back of most patent attorneys, but it should work. Be aware that the engineering school is generally considered more difficult and more demanding than law school, according to people I know who started as engineers and then went to law school.
