will my kohler engine block still be usable?
I have a K301a Kohler 12hp engine for my cub cadet 106 (its a horizontal classic engine) and i was tearing it down for a rebuild and have noticed a hole in the block so i thought it was blown now and i need to no if its in a area of the engine if i can plug the hole or JB weld it, the hole is located in the square opening where the valve springs are and its located on the left side (its on the side where the plastic gear is for the govener) so can i plug the hole with JB weld if i clean the inside block really good and if its in a place where there is pressure?
the block is cast iron its a block from the 68-71's
Repairs such as this have been known to hold occasionally, but you would be much better off replacing the block, which will run you in the neighorborhood of $100-150 for a good used cub cadet block. There is a high chance of failure with a repair like this due to the heat and stresses on the block.
