Craftsman Riding Mower?

Someone PLEASE help! I have a Craftsman 19hp 42hp riding mower. It has the twin motors by Briggs & Stratton. My problem is that I think the ignition switch is going out. My neighbor showed me how to push the wires up against the ignition and then turn the key. It turns on this way, but if I turn it completely off, it won't start again. My yard desperately needs cutting and I cannot afford the buy another riding mower. I called Sears and without the model number, they can't help me. So if anyone has this type of lawnmower, could you PLEASE give the model number so I can order replacement parts. It was purchased around 2000-2001, I believe. And no, I cannot find the manual.

If you are fairly certain that the ignition switch is the problem, it is a simple and reasonably inexpensive fix. Remove the black (negative) cable from the battery. Then remove the ignition switch, but first note and write down how the wires are attached to the rear of the switch. The switch is attached to the dash of the mower with a nut behind the dash. You will need a wrench or other tool to loosen the nut. Pull the switch out from the front and take it to Sears. Note, some auto parts stores may have a lesser expensive switch that will fit.
