Oil Trans
How can a product have partially hydrogenated oil but no trans fat?
I learned in biology today that the process of hydrogenating oil makes trans fats. However, with the new laws passed that don't allow trans fats in foods, how is there still hydrogenated oil? Almost all the products I looked at today had NO trans fats, but DID have partially hydrogenated oils..... what's going on here?
its the manufacturer's lying basically.. the FDA says if a food has .5 or less grams of trans fat per serving, they can list it as zero. so the food will still contain a significant amount of trans fat, seeing as the recommended daily intake is less than 1 gram. its frustrating i know 
but just keep your eye out for hydrogenated oils, interestified oils, and fractionated oils
